Matthew McConaughey has changed his career path beyond recognition as he has gone from rom-com star to exciting actor.
In recent years we have seen his tackle more dramatic roles such as Lincoln Lawyer, Killer Joe and Magic Mike, roles that have shown a different side to the actor as he has really shown what he is made of.
2013 sees him continue with these fantastic dramatic roles with Dallas Buyers Club on the horizon… but first we are going to see him lead the cast of Mud.
The movie has already been turning heads on the festival circuit and it will be hitting the big screen next week. But we have two clips from the film for you to check out before then:
Mud sees Jeff Nichols back in the director’s chair as he helms his first project since the fantastic Take Shelter - he has also penned the screenplay for the film.
McConaughey is joined on the cast list by Reese Witherspoon, Michael Shannon, Sarah Paulson and Sam Shepard.
And the cast is a great mix of well established talent as well as introducing us to some new actors in the form of Tye Sheridan and Jacob Lofland.
Mud is an adventure about two boys, Ellis and his friend Neckbone, who find a man named Mud hiding out on an island in the Mississippi.
Mud describes fantastic scenarios - he killed a man in Texas and vengeful bounty hunters are coming to get him.
He says he is planning to meet and escape with the love of his life, Juniper, who is waiting for him in town. Sceptical but intrigued, Ellis and Neckbone agree to help him.
Mud looks set to be one of the movies not to miss this summer as McConaughey continues to cement himself as a Hollywood heavyweight.
Mud is released 10th May
