Ginnifer Goodwin reveals that Zootropolis was not always the buddy movie that we are going to be treated to.
Goodwin is set to lend her voice to the upcoming Disney film and bring the central character of Judy Hopps to life. The movie sees her team up with Jason Bateman, who voices the character of Nick Wilde.
However, the actress has revealed that earlier drafts of the script focused more on Nick and less on the relationship between them.
Speaking to Collider, the actress said: "It wasn't. I signed on a handful of years ago, which was crazy because I was under confidentiality and couldn't tell anybody that I was in it and had to lie about where I was going sometimes. When I did sign on ... Judy was always a cop and Nick was always a con-man but they didn't buddy up in the same way.
"It was definitely more Nick's story and his experiences in Zootopia with this cop nipping at his heels all of the time. And then a drift, which was written less than a year and a half ago, is where it turned into what it is and they become real cohorts."
Zootropolis is the fifty-fifth film from Disney Animation Studios and the first since the success of Big Hero 6 at the beginning of last year.
Byron Howard, Rich Moore and Jared Bush are in the director's chair for the film and have brought together a terrific voice cast. Goodwin and Bateman are joined by Idris Elba, J.K. Simmons, Jenny Slate, Shakira, and Octavia Spencer.
Zootropolis is released 25th March.
