Zootropolis Makes It Three Weeks At Top of U.S. Box Office

Zootropolis has made it three weeks at the top of the U.S. box office, holding off the challenge from The Divergent Series: Allegiant and Miracles from Heaven.

Zootropolis, which hits the big screen here in the UK on Friday, is the latest offering from Disney and is already moving in on the $600 million mark worldwide.

The movie took a further $38 million in the U.S. over the weekend and has now taken over $200 million in America alone.

The Divergent Series: Allegiant, which is the third and penultimate film in the series, was the highest new entry inside the top ten this week at number two.

The movie sees Robert Schwentke back in the director's chair and lays the foundations for the huge conclusion to the franchise - which is based on the books by Veronica Roth - next year.

Allegiant took $29 million in its opening weekend but was no match for Zootropolis and never came close to toppling the animation film from the top spot.

Miracles from Heaven, which stars Jennifer Garner, was the second and final new entry inside the top ten, as it opened at number three. Directed by Patricia Riggen, the movie is an adaptation of the book of the same name by Christy Beam.

10 Cloverfield Lane, which has been winning over critics and audiences, slipped two places to number four this week. Deadpool round off the top five; also slipping two from last week's number three.

London Has Fallen slipped out of the top five as it fell two spots to number six. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot and The Perfect Match were also two place fallers, ending the weekend at seven and eight.

The Brothers Grimsby, which sees Sacha Baron Cohen team up with Mark Strong and Rebel Wilson, fell from eight to nine.

The Revenant was the only film movie up this week as it jumped a single place from eleven to this week's number ten.
