Zooey Deschanel has landed a role in new movie The Driftless Area.
The Driftless Area is a big screen adaptation of the Tom Drury novel of the same name, and will see Deschanel play an 'enigmatic woman' in the film.
The movie will see Deschanel team up with filmmaker Zachary Sluser: he is making his feature film directorial debut with the project.
Deschanel is due to be joined by Anton Yelchin, John Hawkes, Ciaran Hinds and Alia Shawkat in the movie, which tells the story of a resourceful bartender (Yelchin) who moves back to his hometown following the death of his parents, falls for Deschanel's character and is unwittingly pitted against a crook (Hawkes).
Filming begins May 14 in Vancouver, Canada, with Keith Kjarval and Aaron L. Gilbert acting as producers and Nicole Romano as executive producer.
Deschanel has starred in movies such as The Happening and 500 Days of Summer during her career, but we haven't seen her on the big screen since Our Idiot Brother in 2011.
She has been focusing on TV projects in the last couple of years, with the likes of New Girl and American Dad under her belt.
Deschanel is also set to star in Rock the Kasbah, which will be directed by Barry Levinson.
