Zoe Kazan will star in 'The Big Sick'.
Kazan will appear alongside Kumail Nanjiani in the romantic comedy.
Kumail has written the script with his American wife Emily V. Gordon and the story is inspired by their own relationship, including the trials and tribulations their love has had to face due to their different cultural backgrounds.
Comedian-and-actor Kumail was born in Pakistan and raised a Shia Muslim before becoming an atheist, while Emily is American.
'The Big Sick' will not be the first time the couple - who married eight years ago - wrote, co-hosted and co-produced 'The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail' on Comedy Central.
The film will be directed by The State's Michael Showalter, produced by Judd Apatow and Barry Mendel with the backing of FilmNation to finance the production.
Zoe, 32, will next be seen in 'My Blind Brother' alongside Adam Scott and Jenny Slate, which will be released March this year.
