Zack Snyder says the 'journey' that we are going to go on with Jared Leto as the Joker in Suicide Squad is 'amazing.'
Oscar winner Leto is set to take on the iconic role of the Joker for the first time this summer as he stars as part of the ensemble cast of the highly anticipated Suicide Squad.
Snyder is back on the director's chair for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice but has been keeping a close eye on Suicide Squad and is exciting about Leto's performance and the dedication that he has shown to the role.
Speaking to USA Today, Snyder said: "You're going to get taken on a journey with Jared that I don't know that everyone's ready for but I think it will be amazing.
"The commitment to the role, you're going to see that really shine through in a way that you're not used to seeing actors in movies really go all the way with [in] every little moment and every little breath," said Snyder.
"You're going to get taken on a journey with Jared that I don't know that everyone's ready for but I think it will be amazing."
Suicide Squad sees David Ayer back in the director's chair and will see Leto star alongside Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, and Viola Davis.
Suicide Squad will be released after Dawn of Justice and we will see Ben Affleck make a cameo as Batman; we will be introduced to his version of Bruce Wayne in the Snyder directed comic book film.
Dawn of Justice is set to be the first film from Snyder since the success of Man of Steel back in 2013. The movie will see Snyder reunite with Henry Cavill as Superman, while Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, and Jason Momoa are the big new additions as Batman, Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, and Aquaman.
As for Leto as the Joker, this will be the first time that we have seen the popular character on the big screen since Heath Ledger won a posthumous Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his performance in The Dar Knight.
Suicide Squad is released 5th August.
