Zack Snyder says that the DC Universe it not too concerned with making sure that all of the films have a similar tone, unlike the Marvel movies.
While Marvel had weaved together a series of movies that all fit together, are part of a larger story, and all have a similar tone and feel to them, Snyder says that the DC Universe is not as focused on doing the same thing.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the director said: "The mandate is that we try and make the best movies we can. If you're making a Flash movie with Ezra Miller, it's like millennial Flash. It's going to be a little lighter than making a World War I epic with this feminist icon like Wonder Woman. The films do live in a united universe.
"I feel like the danger is - and I think that the studio would acknowledge this - when you start to mimic things like tone. Then, when you go to the movie, you pretty much know the experience you're going to have."
Snyder is back in the director's chair this week as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice finally hits the big screen. This is the second Superman film for the director and follows on from the success of Man of Steel back in 2013.
And Snyder is set to stick with the DC Universe and he will take up the director's chair for Justice League Part 1, which is currently set to be released in 2017.
A Wonder Woman solo film is currently being filmed with solo Batman and Aquaman movies also in the pipeline as the DC movie universe continues to grow.
Dawn of Justice is one of the most talked about and anticipated films of 2016 as we see the character of Batman return to the big screen. It will be the first outing for the character since Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises. The movie will also introduce us to Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman for the first time.
2016 is set to be a huge year for comic book movies and Dawn of Justice is one that you really cannot afford to miss.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is released 25th March.
