X-Men: Days of Future Past has stormed to the top of the U.S. box office, toppling Godzilla.

Days of Future Past is the sequel to X-Men: First Class, and see Bryan Singer return to the franchise for the first time since X2.

The movie took over $90 million in it's opening weekend in the States, ending Godzilla's return at the top of the box office.

Days of Future Past has enjoyed one of the biggest opening weekends of the year, behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier & The Amazing Spider Man 2.

Godzilla fell just a single place this week as it continues to perform well. It took a further $31 million during its second week on release: it has so far taken over $323 million at the global box office.

Blended was the second and final new entry inside the ten this week, as it opened at number three.

The movie sees Drew Barrymore & Adam Sandler reunite for their third comedy movie together.

Bad Neighbours & The Amazing Spider Man 2 were both down two places this week at four and five.

Million Dollar Arm & The Other Woman were also down two at six and seven, while Rio 2 fell just one place to eight.

Chef was the only movie on the up this week, as it jumped from fifteen to nine. The movie marks the return of Jon Favreau as both a leading man and as a director.

Heaven is for Real was the biggest faller, dropping four places, as it rounded off the top ten.
