I have always been a huge fan of the X-Men franchise and in 2016 X-Men: Apocalypse is set to hit the big screen and be one of the biggest films of the year.
We haven't had much in terms of footage or images from X-Men: Apocalypse yet... but the brand new teaser poster for the film has finally arrived.
2016 is set to be a massive year if you are a fan of the comic book genre - which I am - and X-Men: Apocalypse is already one of the most talked about and anticipated blockbuster films.
X-Men: Apocalypse sees Bryan Singer back in the director's chair for his fourth X-Men movie and first since he steered Days of Future Past to critical and commercial success last year.
Days of Future Past was one of the best movies of 2014 and I have similar hopes and expectations for X-Men: Apocalypse.
Another fantastic cast has been assembled as James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, and Evan Peters are all set to return.
However, there are a whole of great new faces on board as Oscar Isaac, Olivia Munn, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, and Alexandra Shipp join the franchise for the first time. It is not yet clear whether we will be seeing Hugh Jackman back as Wolverine. He is the only actor to appear in every X-Men movie that has been released so far.
Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel's X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign.
As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
X-Men: Days of Future Past grossed over $747 million at the global box office last year and I am expecting X-Men: Apocalypse to do just as well. Could this franchise join the billion dollar club? I guess we are going to have to wait and see.
X-Men: Apocalypse is released May 2016.
