Warner Bros. claims a 'Wonder Woman' movie is one of their top three priorities.
The film studio - which is also behind the big screen adventures of fellow DC Comics characters, Superman and Batman - has been planning a movie adaptation of the comic book favourite for years, and bringing the feisty female superhero to life is such a big priority that they are taking their time to get the "tricky" task right.
Diane Nelson, DC Entertainment's chief, told The Hollywood Reporter: "We have to get her right, we have to. She is such an icon for both genders and all ages and for people who love the original TV show and people who read the comics now.
"What you do in TV has to be different than what you do in features. She has been, since I started, one of the top three priorities for DC and for Warner Bros. We are still trying right now, but she's tricky."
This update comes after Joss Whedon's 2007 movie was cancelled, followed by David E. Kelley's 2011 failed TV pilot.
Diane believes the difficulty with the 'Wonder Woman' story lies in the fact the character's backstory isn't as strong as iconic superheroes like Superman or Spider-Man.
The feminist figure is a warrior princess of the Amazons, fighting for justice, love, peace, and sexual equality.
She explained: "She doesn't have the single, clear, compelling story that everyone knows and recognises.
"There are lots of facets to 'Wonder Woman' and I think the key is, how do you get the right facet for that right medium?"
