Sebastian Stan says that the Winter Solider will be the character that helps tear Captain America and Iron Man apart in Civil War.
Stan is set to reprise the role of the Winter Solider/Bucky Barnes in a movie that sees Steve Rogers try to re-connect and save his old friend.
However, the Winter Solider looks set to ramp up the tension between Rogers and Stark and push their relationship to breaking point.
Stan was in London earlier this week for the European premiere of the movie and he spoke about his character on the red carpet, he said: "It is pretty much where we left him in The Winter Solider post credits - he is still in a place thinking about where he is, what he has done, and learning about his past.
"There has been an ongoing tension that has been going on between Steve Rogers and Iron Man for a really long time and my character is the icing on the cake to tear them further apart."
Stan was introduced as Bucky Barnes in Captain America: The First Avenger back in 2011 before returning as the title character in Captain America: The Winter Soldier two years ago.
The movie sees Stan reunite with co-star Chris Evans and director's Anthony and Joe Russo, who are back at the helm of their second consecutive Captain America film.
Civil War is the first time that we have seen Stan on the big screen since the success of The Martian last year.
The actor is currently filming I'm Not Here alongside Maika Monroe, J.K. Simmons, and Max Greenfield.
Captain America: Civil War is out now.
