Winona Ryder has confirmed that Beetlejuice 2 is set to go ahead.
Ryder teamed up with director Tim Burton back in 1988 as she took on the role of Lydia Deetz in the cult movie alongside Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin, and Geena Davis.
There has been a lot of talk about a sequel over the last couple of years but now it looks like the project really is going to go ahead.
Ryder was asked about Beetlejuice 2 when appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers earlier this week, the actress said: "I think I can confirm it.
"It was very hush-hush top secret... but then [Tim Burton] was doing some press for Big Eyes and and he did an on-camera interview and he said 'Oh yeah, we're doing it, and Winona's going to be in it.'... If he said it, I can say it."
Beetlejuice was only the third feature film of Ryder's career - coming after Lucas and Square Dance - and she was just seventeen year old when she starred in the film. She would go on to reunite with Burton for Edward Scissorhands in 1990.
It was back in December when Burton revealed that a script was in the works and Michael Keaton was set to reprise the title role.
Speaking to IGN, he said: "There's only one Beetlejuice and that's Michael. There is a script, and I would love to work with him again. I think there is now a better chance than ever... I miss that character. There's something cathartic and amazing about it."
It is not yet known if Baldwin and Davis will be returning to reprise their roles as ghosts Adam and Barbara Maitland.
As for Ryder, she is set to return to the small screen with new TV mini-series Show Me a Hero, which will see her star alongside Carla Quevedo, Jon Bernthal, Alfred Molina, and James Belushi.
There is no word yet on when Beetlejuice may be released or start filming.
