The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are unlike any other version of these characters we have seen before, according to actor William Fichtner.

Fichtner is set to play Shredder in the Jonathan Liebesman's re-imagining of the franchise - which will be hitting the big screen next year.

Filming has finished on the film and Fichtner has talked about what we can expect from the film.

Speaking to Flicks and the City he said: "It always had sort of a bouncy cartoon feel to me, which is great, that's why it was appealing. [But] that's not this movie.

"It's not like any 'Mutant Ninja Turtles' thing you've ever seen before. It's freaky, they're cool, and they're mutants and they look awesome. It's tough and it's going to be really, really great."

Alan Ritchson, Noel Fisher, Jeremy Howard and Pete Ploszek will take on the role of Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello and Leonardo, while Megan Fox, Will Arnett and Whoop Goldberg are also on the cast list.

We last saw Fichtner on the big screen in Elysium, but we will be seeing plenty of the actor on the big screen.

Not only has he completed work on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles but also St Sebastian and The Homesman: the latter will be directed and star Tommy Lee Jones.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is due for release in June 2014.
