Will Forte says that he thought the Nebraska script was ‘beautiful when he read it for the first time.
Forte will take on the role of David Grant in the new film from director Alexander Payne, as he teams up with Bruce Dern.
Forte and Dern will play estranged father and son, and Forte says that he was able to draw on relationships in his own life when developing the relationship with his co-star.
Speaking to Total Film the actor said: “It was a beautiful script and I felt I had a sense of who the character was.
“I have a wonderful father and we’re very close, but there are relationships in my life that informed different parts of the relationship between Bruce and myself in the movie. The big-one was my grandfather. He was sweet, but a man of few words.”
Forte and Dern are joined on the cast list by June Squibb, Bob Odenkirk and Stacy Keach, and the movie is already being tipped as a possible Oscar contender.
It has been a busy year for Forte as he has lent his voice to animation movie Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2 and has also completed work on Trouble Dolls and Squirrels to the Nuts.
Nebraska is released 6th December.
