Reese Witherspoon has a series of exciting movies on the horizon, and Wild just happens to be one of them.
Wild sees Witherspoon team up with filmmaker Jean-Marc Vallee for the first time, as he returns to the director's chair for the first time since Dallas Buyers Club.
The movie is based on the memoir by Cheryl Strayed, and will see Witherspoon take on this central role. This is a performance for which she is already being tipped as a major Oscar contender.
With the dissolution of her marriage and the death of her mother, Cheryl Strayed (Witherspoon) has lost all hope.
After years of reckless, destructive behaviour, she makes a rash decision. With absolutely no experience, driven only by sheer determination, Cheryl hikes more than a thousand miles of the Pacific Crest Trail, alone.
Wild powerfully captures the terrors and pleasures of one young woman forging ahead against all odds on a journey that maddens, strengthens, and ultimately heals her.
It has been quite some time since we have seen Witherspoon given a character that she can really get her teeth into, but Wild looks set to do exactly that.
Wild is currently screening as part of the BFI London Film Festival, but will not be hitting the big screen in the UK until the beginning of next year.
Wild is released 16th January 2015.
