Spider-Man: Homecoming is set to be the first Spider-Man from Marvel and will be hitting the big screen next year with Tom Holland in the title role.

And now rumours have surfaced that D'Onofrio, who takes on the role of Kingpin in hit television series Daredevil, is set to join the movie.

Sadly, the actor took to Twitter to deny the rumours.

It would not be the first time that we have seen Marvel film characters have appeared in their television series; Jaimie Alexander reprised the role of Lady Sif - seen in the Thor films - in a couple of episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is set to hit the big screen next summer and will see Jon Watts in the director's chair for his first Marvel film.

Holland, who we were introduced to as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, will be back in the title role.

Michael Keaton has just joined the cast list and will star alongside Marisa Tomei, Zendaya, and Tony Revolori. Robert Downey Jr is also expected to make an appearance as Tony Stark.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will be the second of three Marvel films to be released next year and will be sandwiched in between Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 and Thor: Ragnarok.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is released 29th July 2017.
