Vin Diesel is in talks to play Groot in 'Guardians of the Galaxy'.
The 'Fast & Furious 6' star is reportedly being eyed to play the tree-like alien superhero in Marvel's new space-set comic book movie directed by James Gunn, according to Deadline.
Diesel hinted at the casting by posting a picture of the character on his Facebook page but swiftly took it down.
The sentient character gains super strength from absorbing wood and has the ability to control trees. However, the role will require little dialogue as Groot's sole line is, "I am Groot."
Groot is part of the titular intergalactic crime-fighting force which is led by Star-Lord/Peter Quill, who will be played by Chris Pratt.
Other Guardians include female assassin Gamora, played by Zoe Saldana, super-human warrior Drax the Destroyer, played by former WWE wrestler Dave Bautista, and feisty animal character Rocket Raccoon.
The star-studded cast also includes Lee Pace as villain Ronan the Accuser, Benicio del Toro as The Collector, Karen Gillan as Nebula, and John C. Reilly and Glenn Close as agents of otherworldly police force Nova Corps.
The news comes after Diesel revealed he was meeting with Marvel to discuss a movie project in July.
'Guardians of the Galaxy' is set for release in August 2014.
