Veronica Roth says it was exciting to see behind the movie making curtain.
Roth will see her novel Divergent come to the big screen in the new year as director Neil Burger brings her well known and popular characters to life.
And Roth says that it was excited to see all the work and all the detail that goes into making a movie.
Speaking to Digital Spy the author said: "I've never seen behind that curtain before.
"Now I see that it's tough to make a movie. There's a lot of detail. It makes me a little giggly."
Divergent is already one of the most talked about movies of 2014 as Shailene Woodley will take on the central role of Tris.
She is joined by an all star cast as Kate Winslet, Theo James, Zoe Kravitz, Ray Stevenson, Maggie Q and Ashley Judd are all also on board.
Divergent is a thrilling adventure set in a future world where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities, Tris Prior (Woodley) is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group.
Divergent is the first of Veronica Roth's novels to be adapted into a film - Insurgent could well follow if this first film is a success.
