The trailer for upcoming action-adventure movie Uncharted has landed and with it, a first look at some of the chaotic stunts and scenes we should expect from the featured, based on the video game series of the same name.

With a mission to recover a fortune that was lost 500 years prior by Ferdinand Magellan, a heist job turns into a death-defying series of events as the two traverse the globe, racing against some shady figures headed by the ruthless Moncada (Antonio Banderas), who believes he and his relatives are the rightful heirs to the spoils.

Not only will Nate and Sully be forced to tackle some formidable landscapes and go up against some brutal enemies, but they'll have to take on some mind-bending puzzles that will put their smarts to the test in a bid to solve one of the world's oldest mysteries.

Though they've got a $5 billion score in their sights, the pair may even discover Nate's long-lost brother; but will they be able to come together and work as a unit to find success, or will their egos get in the way?

Uncharted is based on a screenplay by Rafe Judkins, Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, with Ruben Fleischer serving as director. The cast is fleshed out by Sophia Ali and Tati Gabrielle.

The film actually entered development all the way back in 2008, when film producer Avi Arad revealed he'd be working with Sony Pictures on an adaptation of the series. What followed however, was an extremely complicated production process, with various names entering and then exiting the project.

It wasn't until 2017 that Holland was eventually cast in the lead role and then, it took until March 2020 for filming to start, before it wrapped the following October.

Movies based on video games aren't known for doing too well with fans when they make their way to the big screen, but the recent Sonic the Hedgehog hit may have broken the curse.

Those who have spent so long working on Uncharted will be hoping to mirror that success and perhaps, even surpass it thanks to the wild action that looks to be taking place.

Uncharted is set to come to cinemas across the UK at some point in 2022. We'll bring you more details as and when we get them.
