Tom Hardy believes he would 'smash it out of the park' if he got the opportunity to take on the role of James Bond.
It is still not clear whether Spectre will be the last time that we will see Daniel Craig as 007 but there has been a lot of speculation this year as to who will take over from him.
While Idris Elba and Damien Lewis have been the frontrunners of late, Hardy reveals that he would love to take on this iconic role.
Speaking to the Standard, the actor said: "I would love to do it. Who wouldn't? If I did get the chance, I would smash it out the park.
"But there are a load of British actors who could do just the same. There is a long list of talent in this country who would love the honour just as much as me and could do it just as well."
And while Hardy admits that he would love the chance to play Bond, he doesn't think that chance will come anytime soon and believes that Craig will do one more movie.
He continued: "I believe Daniel will do one more. He, [director] Sam Mendes, [producers] Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson are an amazing team and have really got it cracked. Why would they want to break up that winning formula?"
2015 has been a busy year for the actor as he has enjoyed both box office and critical success with Mad Max: Fury Road and gangster film Legend, which saw him play both Ronnie and Reggie Kray.
The actor will be back on the big screen in the new year with The Revenant, which sees him team up with filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu for the first time. The movie is already surrounded in Oscar whispers and we could possibly see Hardy in the Best Supporting Actor Oscar race.
Hardy will also be heading back to the Mad Max franchise as Mad Max: The Wasteland is in the pipeline.
Spectre was released on Monday evening and is already breaking box office records. It looks set to go on to become one of the biggest films of the year.
