Tom Hardy was 'bummed' that he had to walk away from a role in Suicide Squad.
Hardy was one of the early names on the cast list and was set to take on the role of Rick Flag in the ensemble comic book film, which is due to hit the big screen in the summer.
However, the British actor was forced to drop out of the movie, due to a scheduling conflict with The Revenant.
While he was annoyed that he missed out on that role, he told Variety that that anger did help him fuel his character for The Revenant, he said: "It punched right into that, yeah. That got derailed for me. Was I bummed? Of course I was. I hate f***ing losing work.
"I kept bemoaning that they were losing me significant money on a daily basis. Actually, it was good for my character."
Joel Kinnaman has taken over the role of Rick Flag in Suicide Squad and will star alongside Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, and Viola Davis. David Ayer is in the director's chair for the film.
As for Hardy, he will be back on the big screen in January with The Revenant, the first time that he has teamed up with filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu. The film sees Hardy reunite with Leonardo DiCaprio, while Domhnall Gleeson and Will Poulter are also on the cast list.
2015 has been a great year for the actor as he has enjoyed success with the likes of Mad Max: Fury Road and gangster film Legend, which sees him play both Ronnie and Reggie Kray.
Hardy will be returning to the Mad Max franchise with Mad Max: The Wasteland and has also been working on TV mini-series Taboo.
The Revenant is released 15th January 2016.
