Toby Kebbell enjoyed working with Matt Reeves on Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and says he like an 'old fashioned theatre director'.
Kebbell is back on the big screen this summer as he plays ape Kobo - who was introduced in the first film - in the sequel.
The movie marks the first time that Kebbell has worked with director Reeves, and it was an experience that the actor enjoyed.
Speaking to Flicks and Bits, the actor said: "Working with Matt Reeves is a lovely experience. I really enjoy Matt and he’s like an old fashioned theatre director, you know?
"He does a lot of rehearsal, then he does a lot of takes. I’m very used to doing takes as kind of rehearsals and getting that performance out like that.
"And Matt’s dealing with two different performers, he’s dealing with the apes who have to come in and prep because we’re being apes all day, and then the humans are actors and every typical actor is trying to come in and find that performance and find the part.
"It’s unique all round and a wonderful experience. I think his work speaks for itself when you see it on the big screen."
Kebbell is joined on the cast list by Andy Serkis, Gary Oldman and Jason Clarke in a mix of live and motion capture performances.
This is the first big screen outing for Kebbell since The Counsellor, but he has also completed work on Warcraft and Buddha's Little Finger
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is released 17th July.
