It would seem Marvel and Disney fans are super excited about the launch of Thor: Ragnarok later this year, as the brand new trailer for the movie quickly became the most-watched in 24 hours from the two companies, hitting over 136 million views in the single day timeframe.
That means that Beauty and the Beast has been swiftly knocked from its record-holding position after garnering 127.6 million views for its 2017 live adaptation trailer. Star Wars: The Force Awakens comes in third with 112 million views while Captain America: Civil War enjoys fourth place with 94 million views.
The trailer offered fans a look at Chris Hemsworth as the titular character in the movie, showing his imprisonment on the other side of the universe without his hammer in sight. Powerful new villain Hela (Cate Blanchett) was showcased for the first time, while Mark Ruffalo’s take on the Hulk is also involved. It’s going to be a movie that ticks some boxes for everybody watching.
Unfortunately, Ragnarok didn’t maange to topple Stephen King’s It from the overall record top spot, after that film recently notched up 197 million views in the 24 hours after it was released on March 29. Fate of the Furious aka Fast & Furious 8 also managed to beat Ragnarok with 139 million views.
Thor: Ragnarok comes to UK cinemas on October 27 and will hit theatres Stateside in November.
