The Revenant is set to hit the big screen on 15th January 2016.
The Revenant is already one of the most anticipated and talked about 2016 films as it marks the return of Oscar winner Alejandro G. Iñárritu to the director's chair.
This is the first film for Iñárritu since his Oscar triumph for Birdman at the beginning of this year - he really does look to have outdone himself this time.
The movie is based on the novel by Michael Punke and will see Leonardo DiCaprio take on the central role of frontiersman Hugh Glass, whose life inspired the original book.
The Revenant is the first time that we have seen DiCaprio on the big screen since his Oscar nominated turn in The Wolf of Wall Street - I think we are going to see him in the Oscar race once again.
The movie sees DiCaprio reunite with Tom Hardy - both actors working with Iñárritu for the first time - while Will Poulter and Domhnall Gleeson are also on board.
Inspired by true events, The Revenant is an immersive and visceral cinematic experience capturing one man's epic adventure of survival and the extraordinary power of the human spirit. In an expedition to the uncharted American wilderness, legendary explorer Hugh Glass is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team.
In a quest to survive, Glass endures unimaginable grief as well as the betrayal of his confidant John Fitzgerald. Guided by sheer will and the love of his family, Glass must navigate a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption.
The Revenant is already tipped as a major Oscar contender for 2016 so don't be surprised if we see it in the running for the likes of Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. Can Iñárritu make it two in a row? And can DiCaprio get his hands on an Oscar for the first time? I guess we are going to have to wait and see.
The Revenant is released 15th January 2016.
