We are counting down to the release of The Revenant here at FemaleFirst and we can't wait to see Leonardo DiCaprio back in action.
DiCaprio takes on the central role of frontiersman Hugh Glass in the film as he teams up with filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu for the very first time. The movie was the talk of Hollywood on Sunday night as it scooped Best Actor, Best Director and Best Film/Drama at the Golden Globes.
There are just a couple of days to go until the film finally hits UK cinema screens and we have an exclusive featurette for you to take a look at. It takes us behind the scenes as the cast talk about the boot camp that they experienced as they prepared for the role. Check it out:
It is always exciting to see Iñárritu back in the director's chair and The Revenant comes a year after the critical and awards success of Birdman - it looks like the filmmaker has another hit on his hands.
And the director has assembled a wonderful cast list as DiCaprio stars alongside Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson, Will Poulter, and Paul Anderson. The movie sees DiCaprio and Hardy team up for the first time since the success of Inception back in 2010. .
Inspired by true events, The Revenant is an immersive and visceral cinematic experience capturing one man's epic adventure of survival and the extraordinary power of the human spirit. In an expedition of the uncharted American wilderness, legendary explorer Hugh Glass (DiCaprio) is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team.
In a quest to survive, Glass endures unimaginable grief as well as the betrayal of his confidant John Fitzgerald (Hardy). Guided by sheer will and the love of his family, Glass must navigate a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption.
The Revenant has been winning over audiences and critics in the U.S. and it is promising to be unlike any other movie that we are going to be treated to in 2016 - I really cannot wait to see what this very talented cast and director deliver.
The Oscar nominations are announced later this week and The Revenant looks set to feature heavily. It looks like this could be DiCaprio's year to finally get his hands on a Best Actor Oscar.
The Revenant is released on Friday.
