The Neon Demon marks the return of Nicolas Winding Refn to the director's chair; he has also teamed up with Mary Laws and Polly Stenham to pen the film's screenplay.
Refn has brought us great movies such as Bronson and Drive and this is his first feature since Only God Forgives back in 2013. It is great to see him back because you never know what he is going to deliver.
The film sees the director team up with actress Elle Fanning for the first time as she takes on the central role of aspiring model Jesse.
Fanning is joined on the cast list by Christina Hendricks, Keanu Reeves, Jena Malone, Abbey Lee, and Bella Heathcote.
When aspiring model Jesse moves to Los Angeles, her youth and vitality are devoured by a group of beauty-obsessed women who will use any means necessary to get what she has.
The Neon Demon is set to screen at the Cannes Film Festival and will compete for the prestigious Palme d'Or.
Drive and Only God Forgives are the other Refn movies that have played in competition at Cannes, but the filmmaker has never got on his hands on this iconic prize. Could 2016 be his year?
