Based on Sarah Waters’ best-selling novel of the same name comes upcoming movie The Little Stranger, adapted for the big screen by Lucinda Coxon (The Danish Girl). Starring Domhnall Gleeson as Dr Faraday and Golden Globe winner Ruth Wilson as Caroline Ayres, the movie also stars BAFTA winner Will Poulter as Roderick Ayres and Charlotte Rampling as Mrs Ayres. Get a first look at all four in action in the exciting new trailer for the film below:
Building a life of quiet respectability as a country doctor, Dr Faraday is the son of a housemaid who’s called to a patient at Hundreds Hall where his mother once worked, during the long, hot summer of 1948. As the home to the Ayres family for over two centuries, Hundreds Hall has seen some trying times, and is now in sheer decline. It’s not just the house that’s suffering however, as the mother, son and daughter who all reside there are haunted by an ominous secret threatening to find its way to the surface.
When Faraday arrives and takes on his new patient, he has no idea how disturbingly close the family’s story is to his own, but as the truth begins to creep out, he comes to the realisation that his life will never be the same.
Directed by Lenny Abrahamson, The Little Stranger sees Gail Egan, Andrea Calderwood, and Ed Guiney serve as producers. Cameron McCracken, Daniel Battsek, Andrew Lowe, Tim O’Shea, and Celine Haddad are all executive producers on the flick.
The Little Stranger is set to come to cinemas across the UK in late 2018.
