The Lego Movie has ended the three week reign of Ride Along at the top of the U.S. box office.
The Lego Movie brings together a terrific voice cast, that includes Chris Pratt, Morgan Freeman, Elizabeth Banks and Will Ferrell and dominated the box office this weekend.
The film took over $69 million to comfortably hold off the challenge from The Monuments Men.
The Monuments Men is the latest directorial offering from George Clooney; he has also penned the screenplay and stars in the film.
The movie took $22.7 million in its opening weekend to take second place. Ride Along was down two places this week at three.
Frozen and That Awkward Moment, were both down two places to round off the top five at four and five.
Former #1 Lone Survivor was also down this week, as it dropped just a single place at six.
Vampire Academy was the third and final new entry inside the top ten this week, as it opened at number seven. The Nut Job was the biggest faller as it dropped from fourth to eighth.
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit and Labor Day were both down three places at nine and ten.
