Anna Kendrick will be starring in a whole host of musical roles in 2015 and The Last Five Years is just one of them… and the brand new poster for the film has been unveiled.

The Last Five Years is based on the Tony Award winning Broadway show by Jason Robert Brown and will be brought to the big screen by director Richard LaGravenese - who has also penned the screenplay as well as being in the director's chair.
LaGravenese has been behind movies such as P.S. I Love You and Freedom Writers but this is his first film since his adaptation of Beautiful Creatures back in 2013 - this is also the first time that the director has collaborated with Kendrick.
Kendrick has already shown off her singing skills in Into The Woods and Pitch Perfect 2 is on the horizon, but The Last Five Years is another musical project for the actress. She will take on the role of Cathy Hiatt in the film, and is joined on the cast list by Jeremy Jordan.
Filled with the lively energy of New York City's cultural milieu, the film tells the story of the five-year relationship between rising novelist Jamie Wellerstein (Jordan) and struggling actress Cathy Hyatt (Kendrick). As Jamie's new novel vaults him to the top of the literary scene, Cathy is still doing summer stock in Ohio, and their diverging levels of success pose pressing and dire challenges to their love. The film tells Cathy's side of the story in reverse order, starting from the end of their marriage, while Jamie's version of events begins when the couple first meets. This funny and honest portrayal of a five-year romance is told entirely through song.
The Last Five Years is already winning over critics and being called one of the best musicals in recent years - if you are a fan of these genre this look set to be a film that is not to be missed.
As for Kendrick, she is back on the big screen this week with new indie film The Voices, which sees her star alongside Ryan Reynolds and Gemma Arterton. She has also completed work on The Hollars, Get a Job and Mr Right and they are all set to be released later this year.
The Last Five Years will be released exclusively at The Empire Leicester Square on 17 April; VOD on 1 May and DVD on 4 May 2015
