Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 has dominated the U.S. box office this weekend, taking $101 million to take the top spot and end the reign of Spectre.
Mockingjay - Part 2 is the fourth and final film in the popular Hunger Games franchise and will see Jennifer Lawrence take on the role of Katniss Everdeen for the first time - I am sad to see her wave goodbye to this role.
No film in the Hunger Games series so far has grossed over $1 billion at the box office... is this the film that finally does it? I guess we are going to have to wait and see.
Spectre fell just a single place as it grossed a further $14.6 million - it was a close battler for places two and three on the chart this week.
There was no move at three for the Peanuts Movie, which sees Snoopy and Charlie Brown brought to the big screen for the very first time. The movie took $12.8 million and put plenty of pressure on Spectre for that number two spot.
The Night Before and The Secret in Their Eyes were the final new entries inside the top ten and opened at four and five. The Secret In Their Eyes boasts an impressive cast list as Julia Roberts, Nicole Kidman, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Alfred Molina all star.
Love The Coopers and The Martian were both three place fallers this week, as they dropped out of the top five at six and seven.
Spotlight, which stars Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams, Michael Keaton, Liev Schreiber, Stanley Tucci and John Slattery, was the only film on the up, as jumped from twelve to number eight.
The is based on the true story of how the Boston Globe uncovered the scandal of child molestation and cover up within the Catholic Archdiocese and is being tipped as a potential Oscar contender.
The 33 was this week's biggest faller as it fell four spots from five to number nine. Bridge of Spies rounded off the top ten, slipping three places from last week's number seven.
The movie sees Tom Hanks reunite with Steven Spielberg and the movie opens in the UK this week.
