The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug has stormed to the top of the U.S. box office.
The Desolation of Smaug - which is the second of Peter Jackson's films in The Hobbit trilogy - took over $73.6 million to comfortably topple Frozen.
Frozen captured the #1 spot last week, but could not hold off the challenge from the highly anticipated blockbuster. However, it fell just a single place to number two.
So far, Frozen has grossed over $265 million at the global box office and is set to be a smash hit.
Tyler Perry's A Madea Christmas was the second and final new entry inside the top ten this week as it opened at number three.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was down two places at four, while Thor: The Dark World fell just one spot to five.
Out of the Furnace dropped three places to six, while Delivery Man was also down two places at seven.
Philomena was the only film on the way up this week as it jumped from nine to eight - Judi Dench was nominated for Best Actress Golden Globe for her performance in the title role.
The Book Thief was down two at seven, while Homefront was the biggest faller this week as it dropped four places from six to ten.
