If you are looking for a thriller to enjoy this weekend then The Gift is set to be worth a look as actor Joel Edgerton makes his feature film directorial debut.
Edgerton has been behind some short movies already but is making the leap into features for the first time - he has also penned the screenplay and will take on the role of stalker Gordo in the film.
I am a big fan of Edgerton as an actor and I cannot wait to see him show off his filmmaking skills. He has assembled an impressive cast list as Jason Bateman and Rebecca Hall will take on the central roles of Simon and Robyn.
And it is Bateman and Hall that take centre stage in two great new clips from the film to whet your appetite:
David Denman and Busy Philipps complete the cast list, while the producers of the critically acclaimed Whiplash are also on board the project.
Simon (Bateman) and Robyn (Hall) are a young married couple whose life is going just as planned until a chance encounter with an acquaintance from Simon's high school sends their world into a harrowing tailspin. Simon doesn't recognize Gordo (Edgerton) at first, but after a seemingly coincidental series of encounters proves troubling, a horrifying secret from their past is uncovered after nearly 20 years.
As Robyn learns the unsettling truth about what happened between Simon and Gordo, she starts to question: how well do we really know the people closest to us, and are past bygones ever really bygones?
The Gift is released 7th August.
