The Diary of a Teenage Girl is set to receive its UK premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival this week and the brand new poster for the film has been unveiled.
The Diary of a Teenage Girl is one of the most see films at this festival this year and is a big screen adaptation of the novel by Phoebe Gloeckner and has been adapted into a screenplay as Marielle Heller.
As well as penning the screenplay Heller is making her feature film directorial debut as she make the leap from actress to director for the first time. Heller is also one of a number of female filmmakers that are on the programme in Edinburgh this year.
The movie will see Bel Powley take on the central role of Minnie as British actress continues to make a name for himself. We saw her earlier this year in A Royal Night Out, but her performance in The Diary of a Teenage Girl looks set to send her star rocketing.
Powley is joined on the cast list by Alexander Skarsgård, Kristen Wiig, and Christopher Meloni.
Like most teenage girls, Minnie Goetze (Powley) is longing for love, acceptance and a sense of purpose in the world. Minnie begins a complex love affair with her mother's (Wiig) boyfriend, 'the handsomest man in the world,' Monroe Rutherford (Skarsgård).
What follows is a sharp, funny and provocative account of one girl's sexual and artistic awakening, without judgment.
