Stephen King book series The Dark Tower is one of the most expansive, ambitious and entertaining stories of the modern day. It’s a shock to see how long it’s taken to find its way onto the big screen, but later this year the first instalment of what’s expected to be a long-running franchise will drop, starring Idris Elba in the lead role of Roland Deschain, alongside Matthew McConaughey as Walter O’Dim.
Now, a brand new international poster for the film has dropped, showcasing the chaotic and dizzying world viewers will enter when they hit the cinema to see the flick, and giving us another first look at the characters involved.
Never one to conform to any specific genre, The Dark Tower will take fans on an intense journey through a story that will test their ability to pay attention and keep track. Dark fantasy, science fiction, horror and Western are just some of the themes that run through, with the original book The Gunslinger having been released back in 1982.
Directed by Nikolaj Arcel with a screenplay by Akiva Goldsman, Jeff Pinkner, Anders Thomas Jensen and Arcel himself, the film boasts producers Goldsman alongside Brian Grazer, Ron Howard and Erica Huggins. Tom Taylor also stars.
The Dark Tower hits cinemas across the UK on July 28, 2017.
