Yesterday (February 14th, 2022), Munro Films announced that British thriller, The Ballad of Billy McCrae, will be available on digital download in mid-March this year (2022).
The Ballad of Billy McCrae was originally released in September of last year (2021), and was praised by critics who said the feature was engaging and thrilling.
The film was directed by Chris Crow (The Lighthouse, Panic Button) and includes incredible performances by David Hayman (Sid & Nancy, Macbeth), the main man, as well as Sianad Gregory (Last Train to Christmas) and Ian Virgo (Black Hawk Down).
2021’s The Ballad of Billy McCrae follows the story of Chris Blythe (Virgo), who has returned to his Welsh hometown after losing a sizable amount of money in Canada.
He falls for a woman named Elen (Gregory), a slightly hostile yet charming woman; however, her father Billy (Hayman) is a dangerous man, and Christ finds himself in a rather stressful situation.
Critics praised the film during its theatrical release hailing Crow; The Upcoming stated that "Crow creates an engaging thriller that flows well, thanks to the great performances of the cast" this was mirrored by Movie Review 101 calling the film a "tense thriller that keeps us on edge through the whole film."
Crow, excited about the movie’s digital release date, said that "The Ballad of Billy McCrae is a film about damage and dysfunction, a film about flawed people, emotionally stunted people, people who can’t see far beyond their own desires, dreams and greed."
In order to keep the peace, it seems that Blythe and McCrae must learn to be civil in front of Elen, but behind closed doors, they will use one another to get what they want.
Blythe is in a living nightmare, as his father-in-law is a dangerous, borderline psychopathic man, who wished to protect his daughter – but at what cost?
Violence, betrayal and mistrust lurk behind every corner, and behind the eyes of both Blythe and McCrae.
The Ballad of Billy McCrae will be available on digital download from March 14th, 2022.
