Sylvester Stallone is going to make his all-female 'Expendables spin-off film 'The Expendabelles' before shooting the fourth film in the franchise.
Stallone has been planning to make an action flick set in 'The Expendables' universe but led by women for the past two years and now it looks as though the project is going to get the green light.
Mixed martial arts expert Randy Couture - who played demolitions expert Toll Road in the first three 'Expendables' movies - has revealed Stallone is planning to hold off from shooting another sequel to make the spin-off.
Couture, 53, told the New York Daily News newspaper: "I am hearing 'Expendabelles' talks have been going on for the past two years. I heard they had a script they were adapting for 'The Expendables 4' and that we were going to start shooting for number four in the fall. Now I'm hearing it might be pushed back and 'The Expendabelles' might be back on the docket."
Kellan Lutz - who played former US marine John Smilee in 'The Expendables 3' in 2014 - previously picked his own dream team for 'The Expendabelles', and Angelina Jolie was his top pick.
He told BANG Showbiz: "I would like Angelina Jolie in there. Also Cate Blanchett, Cameron Diaz, Jessica Biel ... I mean there's just so many that could be in there.''
Stallone is also set to add to the Rocky Balboa legacy with a sequel to 2015 boxing film 'Creed' in the works.
The actor's return to his most famous character in Ryan Coogler's film was a triumph and his performance opposite Michael B. Jordan - who played Adonis 'Donnie' Creed, the son of Rocky's late opponent and friend Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) - earned him the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture.
A source said: "The script is almost ready and now they are tying down dates for Sly and Michael. The studio, and all concerned, felt that the chemistry between the team was so strong that a sequel was needed - not for money reasons, but to continue a gripping story."
