There's just over three weeks to until Suffragette hits the big screen and it is set to be one of the British movies that is not to be missed this autumn.
We are huge fans of Carey Mulligan here at FemaleFirst and she takes on the central role in the film, which charts the rise of the Suffragette movement. And it is Mulligan who takes centre stage in this brand new and exclusive image.
Suffragette marks the return of Sarah Gavron to the director's chair for only her second live-action feature and comes eight years after she made her first with Brick Lane. This will also mark the first time that Gavron has teamed up with Mulligan.
The director has assembled a truly impressive cast as Mulligan is joined by Meryl Streep, Helena Bonham Carter, Ben Whishaw, Brendan Gleeson, Romola Garai, Anne-Marie Duff, and Samuel West.
Suffragette has been given the honour of opening the 2015 BFI London Film Festival and is set to kick the celebration of film off with an almighty bang.
This is also a movie that is surrounded in Oscar whispers - and has been for some time - and could be a major player during the awards season. Don't be surprised if it is in the Best Picture and Best Actress mix come the beginning of next year.
Suffragette is an intense drama that tracks the story of the foot soldiers of the early feminist movement as they fought for the right to vote, women who were forced underground to pursue a dangerous game of cat and mouse with an increasingly brutal State. These women were not primarily from the genteel educated classes, they were working women who had seen peaceful protest achieve nothing.
Radicalised and turning to violence as the only route to change, they were willing to lose everything in their fight for equality - their jobs, their homes, their children and their lives. The character of Maud, played by Carey Mulligan, is one such foot soldier. The story of her fight for dignity is both heart-breaking and inspirational.
Suffragette is released 12th October
