We haven't seen a Soderbergh movie release since he enjoyed success with Side Effects and Behind the Candelabra back in 2013.

He has brought us movies such as Magic Mike. Ocean's Eleven, and Traffic during his career and admits that he did talk about a possible Bond project.

Speaking to Playlist, the filmmaker said: "Over the years, I've been in conversations... I've been approached twice about doing a Bond film.

"And it never quite got anywhere. And ['Haywire'] in some ways, was my opportunity to do what I would do with a Bond movie."

Soderbergh looks set to return to feature film as he has been linked to a movie about the recent Panama Papers scandal.

The filmmaker has been working in television with drama series The Knick, which sees Clive Owen in the central role as a doctor in 1900.

The Panama Papers movie is inspired by true events and the book Secrecy World by Jake Bernstein.

The book will be adapted for the big screen by Scott Z Burns, who has written scripts Side Effect, Contagion, and The Bourne Ultimatum. It will be Burns' third collaboration with Soderbergh.

While Soderbergh has revealed he was approached for Bond, he has not revealed which movies they discussed. The director's chair on Bond 25 is currently vacant... however, I don't think it will be Soderbergh who will be taking up that challenge.
