Richard Donner has revealed that it was Steven Spielberg who came up with the storyline for the upcoming Goonies sequel.
Earlier this month Donner revealed that he was working on a second Goonies feature film, which would bring the original cast together.
The Goonies hit the big screen back in 1985, and Spielberg served as producer on the movie. Donner admits that they couldn’t make a second film without him.
Speaking to TMZ, the director said:"Hopefully we're going to get this done, period. Spielberg came up with the idea of doing a sequel after 30 years.
"You don't do it without him, and he came up with another storyline and he's right on."
It seems that the sequel is moving along with some pace. Donner has already revealed that he was looking to get original cast members such as Josh Brolin, Sean Astin and Corey Feldman on board; however, there is still no official word about which actors are on board the film.
There is still no word as to when filming on the sequel will get underway, or when it may hit the big screen.
