Steve Coogan has revealed that he was happy to leave behind the character of Paul Raymond at the end of filming The Look of Love.

The movie is based on the real life story of the porn baron and sees Coogan reunite with director Michael Winterbottom.

But when Coogan compared this role with that of Tony Wilson he admits that it wasn't as fun.

Speaking to ES magazine the actor said: "At the end of 24 Hour Party People I wanted to carry on being [music mogul] Tony Wilson because it was such fun.

"At the end of this film I wanted to stop being Paul Raymond because it wasn't a happy place to be.

"But quite frankly, give me a choice between Mary Whitehouse and Paul Raymond, and I'll take Paul Raymond any day of the week."

Matt Grennhalgh has penned the screenplay for the movie while Imogen Poots, Anna Friel and Stephen Fry are just some of the other faces on the cast list.

The Look of Love is the first big screen outing for Coogan in 2013 but he has also completed work on Philomena and lent his voice to Despicable Me 2.

The Look of Love is released 26th April.
