Steve Carell has described the Despicable Me movies as 'sweet' and 'funny'.
The actor will once again voice the character of Gru in Despicable Me 2 this week, a movie that comes three years after the first.
But not only are the characters appealing to the audiences Carell has revealed that his two young children enjoy the films as well.
Speaking to the Press Association the actor said: "It's definitely something that they enjoy. But more than that, it's something I felt was important because it's a kind movie," he said.
"I think it's sweet, it's really funny and makes people happy. [The movies] are smart, funny and heartfelt without being overly sentimental. They hug the heart strings just enough."
Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud are back in the director's chair for the film while the likes of Kristen Wiig, Miranda Cosgrove, Ken Jeong and Russell Brand have all lent their voices to the film.
We have already seen Carell in The Incredible Burt Wonderstone so far this year and he has Foxcatcher and Anchorman: The Legend Continues this year.
Despicable Me 2 is released 28th June.
