Stephen King has hinted that there are going to be some changes to The Dark Tower.
The Dark Tower is the latest of King's novels to be adapted for the big screen and we are going to see Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey in the central roles of The Gunslinger and Man in Black.
And while King reveals that there were aspects of the novel that he insisted were in the film, fans are going to have to accept that there will be some changes.
Speaking about the project during the EW podcast, King said: "I expect that the movie will start where the books start. Y'know, 'The man in black fled across the desert, and the Gunslinger followed.'I think that nails it right in place for people... I've been pretty insistent on that, and I think everyone's onboard with it."
But King has warned fans that there will be some differences to the popular novel. But the author believes fans of the book will get behind those changes.
He continued: "It starts sort of in medias res, in the middle of the story instead of at the beginning, which may upset some of the fans a little bit. But they will get behind it, because it is the story."
Nikolaj Arcel is back in the director's chair for The Dark Tower, which will be his first feature film since the fantastic A Royal Affair back in 2012.
This is set to be the biggest film of his career and I cannot wait to see what he delivers. As well as being in the director's chair, Arcel has teamed up with Akiva Goldsman, Anders Thomas Jensen, and Jeff Pinkner to pen the film's screenplay.
A great cast has been assembled for the film as Elba and McConaughey are joined by Abbey Lee, Jackie Earle Haley, Katheryn Winnick and Franz Kranz.
Filming is underway on the movie and The Dark Tower is set for a 17th February 2017 UK release.
