Stephen Fry has admitted that he has never read The Hobbit.
Fry will just be one of the new faces joining the cast list of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug as he takes on the role of the Master of Laketown.
And the actor says he has only read the script and has never delved into the novel.
Speaking to the Press Association the actor said: "I usually read scripts. But The Hobbit, I'm not sure I should say this, but I've never read The Hobbit.
"And on the plane to New Zealand, which is a long flight, you'd have thought I'd have time."
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will be the second film of the year for Fry after he appeared in The Look of Love.
But he does have other projects in the pipeline as he is due to work on Summer Night, Winter Moon as well as TV movie Super Clyde.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is released 13th December.
