Stephen Amell has quashed new rumours that he is going to reprise the role of Arrow in Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Amell has been linked with a role in the film for quite some time. However, new rumours have started circulating after Amell revealed he was going to make Arrow announcement at San Diego Comic-Con.

The actor has taken to Facebook to deny that Arrow will be making appearance in the upcoming sequel to Man of Steel.

He wrote: "Hey Guys - I appreciate all the support and enthusiasm, but not everything I post is a cryptic indicator that I'm going to be in Batman V Superman. I'm not going to be in Batman V Superman," he wrote on Thursday (July 3).

"As an aside... The next time that I either do a video or an interview with a journalist that I like, I'll be happy to explain why this is the case. Short form - it's not a barometer on ability or the quality of genre - TV V Film, no pun intended.

"Everything here boils down to logistics. In any event... thank you for how much support you've showed me.

"But keep in mind, playing Arrow on television isn't a consolation prize. We play the definitive versions of our characters in the DC Universe."

Dawn of Justice will see Henry Cavill reprise the role of Superman, while Ben Affleck will take on the role of Batman for the first time.

Amell will be back for a third series of Arrow in the autumn.
