A giant statue of Starro, the villain from the upcoming DC movie The Suicide Squad, has been seen in Leicester, London. Not only that, but a certain member of the new team was spotted alongside the massive sea beast...
Peter Capaldi, who plays genius scientist The Thinker in The Suicide Squad, was also seen by commuters and passers by; many were rather shocked to see a 15-meter tall figure of a starfish in the middle of Leicester square but, let’s face it, stranger things have happened.
The massive pink and blue starfish must have crash-landed in London overnight, as it appeared early in the morning, seemingly out of nowhere...
Capaldi, who was pictured with the looming creature, is of course known for his iconic role in BBC One show, Doctor Who, in which he played the titular role.
Many fans of the long-running series adored Capaldi’s version of the war-stricken Time Lord, as his matter-of-fact attitude drew viewers in, in order to see more of his version of the beloved character.
Now, Capaldi has a new gig. He is playing new character The Thinker in The Suicide Squad; a genius of sorts who, if the trailers are anything to go by, never speaks. However, the trailers may just be teasing us.
The Suicide Squad, directed by the brilliant James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy franchise), is a cross between a reboot and a remake of the 2016 film Suicide Squad, which received mixed reviews (many of which were negative).
This new DC film includes characters and cast members we’ve seen before; Margot Robbie is reprising her role as the villainous Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney is back as Captain Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman will be returning as Rick Flagg, and Viola Davis will once again be Amanda Waller.
The Suicide Squad has shown off its all-star cast to also include new characters, such as Idris Elba as Bloodsport, Nathan Fillion as TDK, John Cena as Peacemaker, Pete Davidson as Blackguard, Sylvester Stallone voicing King Shark, and David Dastmalchian as Polka-Dot Man.
It seems that the unlikely band of bad guys will be faced with defeating Starro, a giant starfish (bigger than the one in London) who is seen destroying a whole city in the trailers; it’s up to the group of misfits to deal with it, against their will, though.
The starfish in London is a fun and interesting way to promote The Suicide Squad, as well as The Thinker himself standing in front of it; the movie lands in cinemas this Friday (30th July, 2021)!
