Starred Up

Fox Searchlight have announced that Starred Up will be released 21st March 2014.

Starred Up whipped up a storm at the BFI London Film Festival and has recently picked up eight nominations at the Moet British Independent Film Awards; the highest number of nominations for any film.

The movie sees David Mackenzie return to the director's chair for the first time since You Instead, while Jonathan Asser has penned the screenplay.

Jack O'Connell is an acting talent to watch out for over the next couple of years, and he leads an all star cast as he takes on the role of Eric.

He is joined by Rupert Friend, Ben Mendelsohn, Sian Breckin and Sam Spruell.

Starred Up is the story of a young man, Eric (O’Connell), who is prematurely transferred from a young offenders’ institution to adult jail for being too violent.

As he struggles to assert himself against the prison officers and the other inmates, he has to confront his own father Nev (Mendelsohn), a man who has spent most of his life in jail.

As Eric forges allegiances with other prisoners, and learns that his rage can be overcome through his work with prison therapist Oliver (Friend), he discovers the new rules of survival. But there are forces at work that threaten to destroy him.

Starred Up is released 21st March 2014.
