Simon Pegg has described Star Trek Beyond as a 'Star Trek adventure in the traditional sense.'
There's just a week to go until Star Trek Beyond hits the big screen and comes three years after the success of Star Trek Into Darkness.
The movie sees Pegg reprise his role as Scotty as well as Doug Jung to pen the film's screenplay. Pegg is no stranger to writing with the likes of The World's End and Paul under his belt in recent year, but this is the first time he has written for the Star Trek franchise.
Pegg was on the red carpet for the premiere of the film earlier this week, where he talked about what fan can expect this time around.
He said: "It is just a good Star Trek adventure. It is a Star Trek adventure in the traditional sense as they are off in the depths of space, there's a mysterious planet, there's a nefarious foe, there're aliens and spaceships as well as some philosophy and hard thinking.
"It what I love Star Trek to be and what I hope the fans like it to be too."
This will be the third time that Pegg has played Scotty and the movie sees him reunite with Chris Pine Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana. Idris Elba and Sofia Boutella are the big new additions to the cast list as they are set to take on the roles of Krall and Jaylah.
It is a busy summer for Pegg as he is also returning to the Ice Age franchise to voice the character of Buck in Collision Course. The actor has also completed work on Terminal.
He has also started work on Ready Player One, which is the latest film from Steven Spielberg. Mark Rylance, Ben Mendelsohn, and Tye Sheridan are also on the cast list.
Star Trek Beyond is released 22nd July.
