A rumour that Spider-Man may make an appearance in Avengers: Infinity War has been quashed by Sony.
Earlier this week Latino Review posted an unconfirmed rumour that a deal had been struck between Sony and Marvel Studios that would allow Spider Man to appear in an Avengers movie for the first time - however, that rumour does appear to be fake.
While Andrew Garfield has been quite vocal about his desire to join the Avengers, a Sony Pictures representative told CBR News that the report was and 'old rumour' with 'no validity whatsoever.'
Avengers: Infinity War is set to be split into two movies and will be the third and fourth Avengers films to hit the big screen.
The report also seemed to suggest that we will be seeing plenty of new faces in the Avengers: Infinity War line-up as Captain America will be dead and Thor in some sort of 'galactic prison' after the events of Captain America: Civil War and Thor: Ragnarok, the already highly anticipated third instalments for these two franchises.
Quite how all this is going to pan out for the third and fourth Avengers movies is currently unclear and Marvel Studios are keeping quiet about what they have on the horizon for our favourite characters over the next few years.
Infinity Wars are just two of the movies that are on the upcoming Marvel release slate, as we are also going to be introduced to the likes of Doctor Stranger and Black Panther. As well as sequels for Captain America and Thor, we are also going to be seeing a second Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
However, before we see Infinity War hit the big screen, the Avengers will be back later this year with Age of Ultron, the first Avengers movie since the success of Avengers assemble back in 2012.
Age of Ultron is already one of the most anticipated movies of the year and is set to be one of the biggest and most successful films of 2015. Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, and Samuel L. Jackson are all back as Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Hulk, Hawkeye, and Nick Fury.
We are also going to be introduced to Ultron, The Vision, Scarlet Witch, and Quicksilver as James Spader, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson join the cast list.
Avengers: Infinity War Parts 1 and 2 will be released in 2018 and 2019. Avengers: Age of Ultron is released 24th April 2015.
