Cinematic history is about to be made, as Peter Parker is unmasked for the very first time on the big screen as your friendly neighbourhood superhero, Spider-Man.

The narrative twist comes as the catalyst for all to come in upcoming third Marvel Studios Spidey instalment, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and will see Parker (Tom Holland) getting in contact with Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and requesting some meddling with the timeline, so that the world can forget he is the webslinging crime fighter.

Of course, when you play around with the space-time continuum, not everything goes to plan. Take a look at the incredible first trailer for the film below to see just a taste of what we're talking about:

Directed by Jon Watts, No Way Home will see Parker tested in ways he never could have imagined, including going up against enemies from other universes and timelines that recognise him, but who he has never had the pleasure - or misfortune - of personally going up against.

Those villains, including Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus and Jamie Foxx's Electro, were all brought into the fold after Sony signed a deal with Disney, allowing them access to their legacy content including their past Spider-Man films.

Many wonder if Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will also be appearing in No Way Home, reprising their own roles as Spider-Man, but nothing has been confirmed in that regard. It would certainly be a moment that would stick with the fans forever so, if Marvel Studios are keeping it closely under wraps, we don't blame them!

Returning faces from this latest series include Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May and Benedict Wong as Doctor Strange's mentor and friend, Wong.
