Sophie Turner has been cast as Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse.
Turner - who is best known for her role as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones - is now making a major leap to the big screen with the new X-Men film. She had been linked to the role early last week, but it has now been confirmed that she is on board.
Tye Sheridan and Alexandra Shipp are also two other new faces, as they are on board as Cyclops and Storm. Director Bryan Singer took to Twitter to reveal the new members of the cast.
He wrote: "Meet our new and brilliant young mutants: @Alexshipppp as #Storm @SophieT as #JeanGrey and @TyeSheridan as #Cyclops. #XmenApocalypse (sic)"
X-Men: Apocalypse is set to be the biggest film role of Turner's career to date. She made her big screen debut in 2013 with Another Me, and this would only be her fourth film.
We are also going to be seeing her in Barely Lethal and Alone later this year - as well as the new series of Game of Thrones.
Filming on X-Men: Apocalypse is due to star shortly and will see Singer back in the director's chair for his fourth X-Men film - he also steered X-Men: Days of Future Past to critical and commercial success last year.
While Turner, Sheridan and Shipp are some of the new faces on board - along with Oscar Isaac - the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, and Nicholas Hoult will all be back as Mystique, Magneto, Charles Xavier, and Beast.
Apocalypse will serve as a sequel to Days of Future Past, which went on to gross in excess of $748 million at the global box office last year. It was also the first time that Singer had helmed an X-Men film since X2 back in 2003.
X-Men: Apocalypse is released 19th May 2016.
